Cheryl Des Palmes has directed, choreographed, stage-managed and taught theatre for 25 years. She is a founding teacher of Tesoro High School. She had the great honor of being Capistrano Unified High School Teacher of the Year 2008, and Tesoro High School’s Teacher of the Year as well. She has twice been recognized and as an outstanding arts educator at the OC Arts Administrators Awards. She holds a B.A. in Theatre Education, M.S. in Secondary Education, and is a National Board Certified Teacher in Career and Technical Education with and emphasis in Arts and Communications. Cheryl has worked for the California Arts Project as a teacher leader and coordinator for twenty years, working with arts teachers throughout the state of California. She serves on the Orange County Cappies Steering Committee, encouraging young reviewers and creating writing and leadership curriculum for theatre students. She is a proud member of the California Educational Theatre Association and has lead Thespian Troupes for The Educational Theatre Association for 25 years. Directing is her passion. Having directed close to 100 shows, her favorite past shows include: The Drowsy Chaperone, Noices Off!, Much Ado About Nothing, Once on this Island, A Piece of My Heart, The Miracle Worker, Romeo & Juliet, Das Barbecu, The Merry Wives of Windsor, Fiddler on the Roof, The Whole Darn Shooting Match, The Diviners, 9 to 5, Lucky Stiff, Into the Woods, Comedy of Errors, The Phantom Tollbooth, The Government Inspector, Crazy for You, and Seussical. Cheryl is thankful to work in the theatre every day, teaching empathy & ensemble while encouraging her students to dream big. Cheryl has been married to her very own tech, Dezy, for over 20 years and is so thankful he “gets” tech week. They have a spirited ten year-old daughter who loves her cats, playing video games, watching anime, and eating her veggies. (seriously)
